The aim of the project was to improve road safety on the main road for both passing and local traffic.
Almost a kilometre of the existing main road was converted into a 2+1-lane road and a 5-kilometre stretch of new 2+1-lane road was added.
Two larger junctions near the Kernu petrol station and on the Riisipere road in Haiba, and two viaducts with a total length of 50 and 51 metres, respectively, were added.
New rainwater, drainage, and water pipelines, as well as street lighting, electricity, and communication lines were also built.
Construction of the Kernu traffic junction was completed in 2020.
